Week Four: How Can You Take The Bible Literally?

One of the participants in the Tim Keller’s study said, “The Bible is a wonderful text, it’s complex, a lot of things going on, some people believe it to be the truth, I myself do not.” How might you respond to that statement if it was made by a longtime friend? How would you respond to that statement in a conversation with a neighbor with whom you are only recently getting to know?

When looking at a particular passage in the Bible, what does it mean to ask the questions: “What genre is this text? Where are we in the text? When are we in the text?”
