With Hope In Mind: A Mental Illness Family Support Group
In January 2016, The Village Chapel launched With Hope In Mind, a faith-based mental illness family support group. Facilitated by our own Bill and Mary Jean Murphy, the group is open to the greater Nashville community, providing a safe place for family members and caregivers to share their experiences.
When the Murphys met in the 1970s, both were mental health professionals, and while serving on TVC's Prayer Team they noted that a significant number of individuals and families seeking prayer were dealing with the mental health issues of a loved one. With Hope In Mind is offered in association with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and the Murphys have undergone extensive training in order to become NAMI community advocates.
It's our prayer that God uses this resource to lessen the stigma of mental illness and provide support for those regularly impacted by this issue. For more information, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or visit NAMI.org.
With Hope In Mind meets on the fourth Sunday of each month from 3-4:30 pm at TVC East.
